Far View Motor Lodge.

The Far View Motor Lodge is within Mesa Verde National Park next to the park Visitor Center. It is open from May through October. It has no phones and no TV. There is a restaurant at the lodge and a cafeteria nearby. Gasoline is also available. Click Here for (reservations, availability and rates)

Air
There are daily scheduled flights to Durango, Colorado; they also have car rental services.

Bus service is available from Grand Junction, Colorado and Gallup, New Mexico to Cortez.

Camping

Park Campgrounds

Morefield Campground: is open early spring through late fall. It has single and group campsites. Campsites are always available. Cost is $16.00 per night per site.With more than 400 sites, Morefield has filled only one time in 10 years. Campsites loop through a tranquil green valley that is as much home to deer and wild turkeys as to human visitors. Some areas are separate for recreational vehicles and tent campers. Services at the campground include

  • Elevation is 8,000 feet.

Campsites for the physically impaired are available. Evening campfire programs are given daily from early June to September. During the summer, non-denominational religious services are held.

  • Morefield Showers: Coin operated, bring quarters, 24 hours-a-day
  • Morefield Service Station: 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM

Three hiking trails originate in the Morefield area. Gathering firewood or injuring trees and shrubs is prohibited. Camps should not be left unattended for more than 24 hours.

Park Backcountry Camping

Because of the fragile nature of the archeological ruins at Mesa Verde, there is no backcountry camping in the park.
